    Ten Vectors for a Democratic and Sustainable Urban Development in Southwest Vienna

    The Italian magazine of Urbanism Planum has published an article by Arenas Basabe Palacios on the development of the Wildgarten neighborhood in Vienna. The proposal initiated its journey as a winning project of Europan 10 in 2009 and it is already in construction phase. The first inhabitants will predictably move by the end of 2019, ten years after the recognition.

    In the article we go through the ten “vectors” that have guided the project from the initial concepts to its further development on hands of the numerous implied agents. The article is supported by a selection of images of different phases of the project.

    The project appears in the framework of a special number that aims to introduce through their work and writings to the members of the Scientific Committee of the journal in which we have participated since 2017. It is an honor to be able to maintain this enriching relationship with a mean of great entity and a reference in the culture of urban planning in southern Europe.
