Single-family wooden housing in ‘la sierra’

Segovia, 2011

We were looking for a house with a variable programme in terms of occupation and time of use. Three different families can inhabit it, temporarily coinciding or not.

The housing is planned then as three ‘houses’  set around a communal square, in which they share a large, bright and versatile space, but which at the same time gives each one of them great independence

The private cores operate independently, as kind of small apartments, with their corresponding balconys and storage areas. Precisely, the front of each strorage area creates a ‘facade’facing the commonunal area, and also accommodates other uses such as that of the kitchen.

Thus the house is organised from a longitudinal communal space, whose walls connect the three apartments. Taking advantage of the sloping nature of the plot, two of them are stacked at the north end, whilst the rest of the housing remains on one floor.
