HABITAT COARQ

International Architectural Projects Competition, CoARQ

Instead of a concrete redisential building, we proposed a high level organisation system. The new building investigates the action of stacking volumes instead of floors. Thus the access to housing arranged on one floor, double and triple creates a fragmentation of the surrounding corridor, creating micro-communities of neighbours. These are linked through communal spaces twice as tall, which are organised around the lines of communication.

The housing responds to a graduation of privacy, reserved compact space for bedrooms and we romos and an expansd space with a direct link to the corridor, blurring the boundary between public and private. The result is a community organised by levels of association: between individuals, between the individual and the group and between groups of individuals.
